Sydney Writers’ Festival 2018 Internship Program is open to the Festival’s partner universities:

  • Macquarie University
  • University of New South Wales
  • University of Sydney
  • University of Technology Sydney

The internship program is designed to facilitate learning and offer practical experience working on a large-scale festival event. The internship program also provides valuable opportunities for students to network with professionals in Sydney’s thriving arts and cultural events industry.

The first round of internship applications have now closed. The first round of internships are 10 week student placements working with a particular department. We invite students to work alongside us as we manage the key tasks required to plan and prepare for Festival week. These Interns will start in February and work with us until the Festival concludes.

The second round of internship applications are now open. The second round of internships are short term placements for students interested in working with the Festival Videographer and Festival Podcaster. These internships cannot be used for university course credit. 

Festival Podcasting Internship x8 roles

The 2018 Sydney Writers’ Festival Podcasting Interns will undertake a variety of practical activities directly contributing to audio-media needs of the festival. Reporting to the Festival Podcaster, the Podcasting Interns will help facilitate the smooth operation of the podcasting team. The Interns will assist with the recording, editing and administration of recorded events over the Festival key dates (Thursday 3 May – Sunday 6 May).

Festival Videographer Internship x4 roles

The 2018 Sydney Writers’ Festival Videography Interns will undertake a variety of practical activities directly contributing to video-media needs of the festival. Reporting to the Festival Videographer, the Videography Interns will help facilitate interviews and the filming of festival guests. The Interns will assist with the recording, interviewing and moving equipment over the Festival key dates (Thursday 3 May – Sunday 6 May).

Successful applicants will meet ahead of the Festival to receive training and information about the role, then they will work together to support the Videographer and Podcaster in their roles.
