Join us for the launch of the 2017 UTS Writers’ Anthology, And Watch The Whale Explode, with a foreword by poet and author Fiona Wright. In its 31st year, the anthology brings together some of Australia’s most exciting emerging writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and script. Fiona introduces the event, which includes readings by contributors and the announcement of the winner of the annual UTS Writing Prize.
Fiona Wright (Australian)
Fiona Wright is a writer, editor and critic from Sydney. Her book of essays Small Acts of Disappearance won the 2016 Kibble Award and the Queensland Literary Award for non-fiction. Her poetry collections are Knuckled, which won the 2012 Dame Mary Gilmore Award, and Domestic Interior, which is shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Award. Her new essay collection is The World Was Whole.
Rachael Versace (Australian)
Rachael Versace is an aspiring editor and author. She has previously edited Vertigo, in which her writing has also appeared, and recently completed her undergraduate degree majoring in Writing and Cultural Studies. Rachael contributed to the 2017 UTS Writers' Anthology as both editor and writer.
