There is a long history of poets writing about food, stretching back to classical Greek and Chinese poetry and continuing into contemporary poetry. Food, like poetry, exemplifies how the sum of something is often much greater than its parts. In this hands-on half-day workshop, Sydney poet Eileen Chong explores food in poetry through a selection of poems and writing exercises designed to help you connect with your own food histories and stories. Eileen Chong is a Sydney poet who was born in Singapore. Her books are Burning Rice, Peony and Painting Red Orchids. She was shortlisted for the Anne Elder Award 2012, as well as the Prime Minister's Literary Award in 2013, and the Victorian Premier's Literary Award 2017. Another Language is forthcoming in 2017.
